"I don’t pity any man who does hard work worth doing. I admire him. I pity the creature who does not work, at whichever end of the social scale he may regard himself as being."
Theodore Rosevelt
Here you can find a detailed look at my previous employment, roles withing these companies and how they helped me develop the skills required to further my ambitions through University and into the working world.
Norwich City Community Sports Foundation
Community Sports Coach - Player Development Centre Coach
Voluntary Febuary 2012 - August 2013
Employed August 2013 - September 2015
Over the past few years I have coached many different formats of sport, specialisign in Football & Multi-Sport. I started coaching 'After School Clubs' at multiple schools in Norfolk, providing engaging, challenging and enjoyable football & multi-sport sessions for ages 4-11.
I have also been fortunate enough to coach the ‘Player Development Centre’ standard of players, allowing young players to explore the game and structure their sessions so that there is a balance of progressive development and enjoyment amongst the young participants.
One of my most fulfilling jobs at the CSF is coaching and refereeing the Adult Disability Grand Prix League at various points in the season. Here I have refereed players with mild and severe learning difficulties and allowed them to enjoy their exercise in a fun, approachable and safe environment. Along with refereeing Adult Disability matches, I have also been linesman for the Girls Player Development Centre on occasion, most notably a home fixture vs Arsenal in 2014. This variety of work I have done with the CSF has provided me with opportunities to broaden my knowledge in coaching, refereeing and allowing sessions to run smoothly on a social level.
My volunteering and start of paid work came in the form of coaching ‘Mini-Kickers’ sessions. This is basic enjoyment coaching of children aged 4-8. At the very start of my time coaching with the CSF, I volunteered 3 hours a week on a Saturday morning with this type of work. The challenges involved such as behaviour and standard of play was difficult for me to adapt to early on, but the personal development as a coach this provided me with has made me as adaptable, confident and approachable as I am today, in all aspects of my work.

Premier Education Group - Premier Sport
Activity Professional
May 2016 - Present
My work with Premier Sport came about during my studies at the University of Derby. Having left coaching behind in Norfolk when i relocated, I wanted to get involved straight away when I started my course. Although I had to wait a couple of months, when the opportunity came along to join such a large company I could not refuse.

In my opinion teaching is such a rewarding line of work, and this experience has allowed me to develop as a person, and let that reflect in my lessons.
My main responsibilities are to plan and deliver quality PE lessons that fit in with the national curriculum and Ofsted standards, allowing students to learn in a safe and secure environment.

During Easter/Summer holidays we also carry out various 'Holiday Camps' where sport is used to entertain and engage children who may otherwise not be active. Here I have to conduct myself in a completely different manner to when teaching PE. This has aided me in developing new skills in order to allow me to switch behaviours quickly and make children and young people feel relaxed in their surroundings.

Delia's Canary Catering - Darren Huckerby Macthday Club
Matchday Catering Assistant
March 2012- November 2012
Before having to leave my role as a matchday waiter due to family reasons relating to football, I found this job to be my insight into the hospitality world of professional sport, and could potentially be seen as the foundations of my interest in Sport Management.
Having quickly been promoted within 3 weeks of working as a waiter, I was seen to be a key member of the team and was offered more work in higher roles in the coming seasons, but unfortunately had to decline due to my increasing roles within my coaching profession with the Community Sports Foundation.
